Top UFC lightweight “Raging” Al Iaquinta got the big call for a title shot after UFC 223 fell apart piece by piece.
He seized the opportunity, fighting Khabib Nurmagomedov on 24-hours notice for the UFC lightweight world title. And while the New York native was able to go the distance with Khabib, he was not able to capture the UFC strap.
UFC 223 will go down in infamy thanks to Conor McGregor’s bus attack.
Iaquinta himself now confessing that he played a large role in disrupting the events, so he could realize a dream.
Here’s what Al said:
Get on the same card as the 155 pound title fight, make sure it’s near your hometown, bide your time for someone to [pull] out, maintain good credit, get Conor coked up and have him throw a dollie through a bus the day before.
