The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has been allegedly looking to lock down a big match up for the promotion’s debut in Russia. While a headliner has yet to be discovered, a new report claims the UFC now has a date for their Russian card.
The world’s most famous mixed martial arts promotion is still breaking new ground all the time. The UFC recently made its debut in Shanghai, China back at UFC Fight Night 122. The event featured a stunning headliner between Kelvin Gastelum and former middleweight champion Michael Bisping.
Now the promotion is looking to break ground in Russia. Newly crowned UFC lightweight champion and Dagestan native Khabib Nurmagomedov is a often discussed interest for the UFC’s Russian debut.
However, UFC President Dana White has already come forward to claim that any possible fight between Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor would have to take place in Las Vegas, Nev. With Nurmagomedov seemingly on a collision course with the Ireland native following the fracas in Brooklyn, New York, it would appear that “The Eagle” may not be competing in Russia anytime soon.
Taking to Twitter, MMA journalist Adam Zubayraev has come forward to claim that the UFC will be debuting in Moscow, Russia on Sept. 15. Check out the original report below:
