Bellator champions Rory MacDonald and Gegard Mousasi are currently targeting each other for a mixed martial arts super fight. With that in mind, it would appear that Bellator MMA President Scott Coker may have other fights in mind.
Gegard Mousasi made his big sophomore Bellator MMA performance at Bellator 200 on Friday, earning a first round TKO victory over Rafael Carvalho for the middleweight title. Shortly after the fight, Mousasi decided to call out reigning Bellator welterweight title holder Rory MacDonald.
“Red King” has since shown great interest in accepting Mousasi’s challenge. Speaking to media after Bellator 200, Scott Coker revealed that there may be other fights that need to happen first.
“As I was walking over here Rory blowing my phone up going, ‘Let’s do it. I want to get this fight on. ‘ We’ll go back, and let’s see. We’re working on a few things that will make sense. That fight will happen one day. How soon? I’m not sure.”
“Gegard showed why he’s probably one of the best in the world. Now he’s our world champion. I know when we signed him to fight in Strikeforce he was amazing. He’s just getting better and better, and we have some great fights ahead for him.”
