Darren Till Delivers On Hype, Takes Out The #1 Ranked Thompson In Main Event

Undefeated UFC welterweight Darren Till is finally set to throw down with two-time former UFC title challenger Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson. Check out the UFC results below.

The highly anticipated fight card of UFC Fight Night 130 is taking place inside the Echo Arena in Till’s hometown of Liverpool, England on Sunday, May 27. Headlining the card, Till and Thompson are set to throw down for division dominance. Till missed weight for the match and will be forfeiting 30 percent of his purse to Thompson, but the match is now set to go down as a catchweight bout.

The fight opened up at a methodical pace, as both fighters began to gauge each other’s range, rhythm and power. Neither fighter managed to dish out much damage in the first round, leaving a tough five minutes for the judges.

Till and Thompson opened up in the second round, as both competitors began to get comfortable inside the octagon. “Wonderboy” began peppering his opponent with body shots and powerful jabs, but Till refused to back down.

Till continued to press forward on Thompson in the third round, but “Wonderboy” managed to consistently evade strikes from his opponent. Thompson was seemingly getting the better of his opponent in the exchanges, but it was till a tough round for the judges. In the final moments of the round, two the mixed martial artists entered a brutal exchange that had the Liverpool crowd on their feet.

The opening championship round kicked off at a faster pace. Both fighters began letting their hands go, as Thompson and Till were each looking to make a definitive statement in Liverpool. However, neither fighter managed to dish out much significant damage by the sound of the bell.

Thompson and Till touched gloves ahead of their final round. Early in the round, Till began walking down “Wonderboy” and landing some powerful right hands.

Thompson, however, continued to pummel his opponent with precise counter strikes. Then Till rocked Thompson, dropping the fighter to the canvas.

“Wonderboy” made it to his feet, quickly recovering from the strike. However, the fighter did not manage to return the favor with a bomb of his own. This one has gone the distance.
