The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) made some quick changes to the one of the promotion’s upcoming fight cards. Now it would appear that UFC heavyweight contender Alistair Overeem will no longer be fighting on the main card of his upcoming match up.
The highly anticipated fight card of UFC 225 is set to go down June 9 inside the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. The night’s headliner is set to see UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker defend his belt from Yoel Romero.
Alistair Overeem was initially set to face off against Curtis Blaydes on the night’s main card. However, during the recent UFC Fight Night 129 broadcast on Saturday, the UFC revealed that a change has been made to the night’s card.
Overeem vs. Blaydes has been bumped to the preliminary card, as former women’s UFC bantamweight champion Holly Holm’s fight against former Invicta FC featherweight champion Megan Anderson has taken the fight’s main card slot. Of course, WWE star CM Punk and Mike Jackson will still be fighting on the night’s live pay-per-view main card.
