UFC 224 was a momentous event, as mixed martial arts legend Vitor Belfort laid his gloves in the center of the octagon. Now emotional footage of the fighter from backstage of the event has made its way to the internet.
“The Phenom” went toe-to-toe with fellow MMA veteran and former UFC title holder Lyoto Machida on the live pay-per-view main card of the highly anticipated UFC 224 event on May 12. However, things simply did not go the fighter’s way.
“The Dragon” earned a stunning front kick knockout over Belfort that was reminiscent of the fighter’s infamous loss to Anderson Silva from years before. After being defeated in his home country of Brazil, Belfort announced the end of his fighting career.
