UFC women’s strawweight Mackenzie Dern is currently gearing up for her next big octagon performance. With that fight now only days away, here is a look back to one of the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu phenom’s classic match ups.
Back in 2014, Dern made her way to the finals of the World Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi Championship. In the final battle, Dern hit the canvas with none other than Gabi Garcia.
Both competitors have since branched out into the world of mixed martial arts. Both competitors have been dominant within their careers with undefeated records.
During the final round of the World Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi Championship, Dern put up quit the challenge but ultimately suffered a loss to her opponent via an americana submission.

Meanwhile, Dern is now gearing up to face off against Amanda Cooper in her sophomore octagon performance. The two will face off on the highly anticipated fight card of UFC 224. The event will take place May 12 in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and will be featured live on pay-per-view.
