The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently received featherweight contender Yair Rodriguez from his fight contract. Now UFC President Dana White has come forward with a statement over the matter.
Yair Rodriguez was reportedly being targeted for a match up against Zabit Magomedsharipov for Aug. 4. The fighter has since gone to social media to deny the report, stating “#FakeNews.”

The fighter was removed from the UFC roster shortly after. Now UFC President Dana White has come forward with a few words over why the promotion released Rodriguez from his fight contract.
Speaking to LA Times, White revealed that Rodriguez’s alleged refusal to accept certain fight offers lead to his removal from the UFC roster.
“The guy’s off a year, rejects a fight with (Ricardo) Lamas and then doesn’t want to fight a guy below him in the rankings? He can go somewhere else. We have no use for him. He calls that fight fake news. This is real news.”
