Mixed martial arts legend Vitor Belfort is set to throw down in his home country this weekend. With the fight now only a day away, the time has come to take a look at the ever changing physique of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) veteran.
Vitor Belfort has been a thread in the narrative of MMA for many years. Now the 41-year-old is set to face off against fellow former UFC title holder Lyoto Machida on the highly anticipated card of UFC 224.
The fight goes down this Saturday, May 12, in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. With the fight now drawing near, fighters have already hit the scales for the event.
Machida and Belfort both made weight. However, Belfort is hardly looking like his former self.
The Brazil native formerly competed under a TUE, therapeutic use exemption. Before the days of the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) within the UFC, octagon competitors could once use TUEs to legally fight while taking testosterone replacement therapy (TRT).
Once such fighter to use the practice was none other than Vitor Belfort himself. The fighter is of course off of TRT, as the practice is banned under USADA’s reign as the anti-doping watch dogs of the UFC.
Check out a side-by-side of Vitor Belfort weighing in for UFC 224, as seen on the left, and Belfort looking huge during his TRT days on the right.
