Former UFC competitor Gegard Mousasi made his sophomore Bellator MMA performance on Friday, May 25. Following the fighter’s Bellator middleweight title earning victory, “The Dream Catcher” has come forward to reveal that he does not believe he is the greatest middleweight fighter within the sport.
Mousasi earned a first round TKO over Rafael Carvalho for the title at Bellator 200. Speaking on The MMA Hour, Mousasi was asked if he believes himself to be the best middleweight in the world.
“Best middleweight? No, I don’t know I don’t think so. But that’s not my goal to be the best middleweight.”
“But do I think I can fight Whittaker or Yoel Romero, Luke Rockhold. Or would’ve fought Michael Bisping when he was champion? Yeah, I think I would’ve been able to win.”
“Just win my fights and make my money. Listen, everyone are fighting for money. I don’t know why people are, people come on this show and say they are fighting for honor or my country, all that nonsense,” he said. “If you don’t pay any of those fighters they don’t fight. Everyone is fighting for the paycheck. That’s what I do, I get paid to fight, there is nothing glamorous about it.”
