Phil Brooks, better known by his WWE moniker CM Punk, won his lawsuit on Tuesday, June 5. Now the fighter can have a moments rest before stepping inside the octagon.
Dr. Chris Amann of the WWE filed a lawsuit against Brooks and professional wrestler Colt Cabana in an effort to gain $4 million and additional punitive damages. Amann claimed that the two athletes made defamatory comments during their 2014 podcast that caused stress and ill-effect to his reputation.
However, Punk was found not guilty on Tuesday. ESPN’s Brett Okamoto recently took to social media to report that CM Punk was in court for much of this morning and that the professional wrestler turned fighter was seen hugging his wife and crying within the courthouse.
Punk is, of course, only four days away from making his long awaited octagon return. The fighter is set to face Mike Jackson on the live pay-per-view main card of UFC 225.
The event will take place this Saturday, June 9, inside the United Center in Punk’s hometown of Chicago, Illinois.
