The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is in Chicago, Illinois tonight for the latest fight card from the world’s most famous mixed martial arts promotion. This time around, the UFC is hosting the highly anticipated fight card of UFC 225.
In the featured FS1 prelim of the night, from inside the United Center, former UFC heavyweight title challenger Alistair Overeem is facing off against Curtis Blaydes. Check out the UFC results from the fight down below.
The first round kicked off at a methodical pace, as each fighter was seemingly looking to gauge each other’s pacing and reach. Halfway through the round, Blaydes managed to slam his opponent into the canvas. Overeem locked in a heel hook submission attempt in the final moments of the round, but failed to get a finish before the sound of the bell.
Overeem pulled Blaydes to the canvas early in the second round after stunning his opponent with a strong right hand. The fighter attempted another heel hook, but once again failed to get a finish from the position.
Blaydes eventually took Overeem to the canvas and dominant the fighter from half-guard for the rest of the round. This was seemingly a big five minutes for Blaydes.
Blaydes exploded out the gate in the final round, pummeling Overeem into the fence before taking the fighter to the canvas. After dishing out some vicious punches from the ground, Blaydes managed to get a finish.
