Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is currently awaiting a hearing from the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) concerning his latest failed drug test. Now the fighter has decided to declare himself the reigning champion.
Jon Jones had his UFC light heavyweight title stripped for the third time after his knockout victory over heated rival Daniel Cormier at UFC 214. “Bones” Jones earned the title with a big finish over Cormier, but the result was overturned to a no contest and Cormier was reinstated as the reigning champion after Jones was flagged for yet another failed drug test.
Jones has since been fined $205,000 and has had his fighting licensed revoked by the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC). Taking to Twitter, Jon Jones has now offered his thoughts on the UFC light heavyweight title.
“Thanks brother, yeah I know I don’t need to hold that belt to be the champion. Sure the whole top five knows that too”

Jon Jones would later offer another Tweet that has since been deleted. Check out a screen shot of the deleted message below, as provided by MMA Junkie.
“I don’t need the physical belt or even to be in the rankings to know that I am the champion. It’s something that I feel in my heart, I know what I’ve done. I know what I’m going to do.”
