Kayla Harrison is a heavily decorated judoka. As an Olympian, Harrison earned a gold medal in Judo within the 2012 and 2016 games.
Harrison has since moved on from the sport, however. Harrison is now budding into a career of mixed martial arts.
Harrison’s MMA debut is set to take place June 21 from within the Chicago Theater in Chicago, Illinois. Fighting under the new Professional Fighters League banner, Harrison will face off against Brittney Elkin.
Speaking to MMA Fighting, Harrison revealed that she entered a depression after winning her gold medals.
“It’s no secret that after the Olympic in Rio I spent doing a lot of soul searching.” Harrison said. “I was definitely depressed, I think you could say.”
However, the medalist then revealed that MMA has since helped her mental health. Check it out within the video below:
