Khabib Confirms He’s Starting Training Camp For McGregor Bout

UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is seemingly on a collision course with former champion Conor McGregor that is destined for the octagon. Now “The Eagle” has come forward to reveal that he is gearing up to begin his training camp.

Nurmagomedov earned his title back at UFC 223 after defeating Al Iaquinta by way of unanimous decision. Reigning champion Conor McGregor and interim champion Tony Ferguson were each stripped of their titles ahead of the fight to allow for Nurmagomedov the opportunity to compete for the belt at UFC 223.

Speaking to MMAnytt.se, Khabib Nurmagomedov revealed that he is preparing to visit California to begin his training camp at American Kickboxing Academy. While a title defense fight has yet to be locked down, Nurmagomedov claims the UFC is currently working on a match up between him and Conor McGregor.

“Very soon, I am going to come to USA to California and begin by training camp. When UFC give me fight, I’m going to come to California and I’m going to stay there at AKA with my family nine weeks before fight and I am going to defend my title this year. This year I want to defend my title.

“Opponents, I don’t know to be honest. I don’t know, but UFC working on fight… me vs. conor.”
