Tonight’s highly anticipated fight card for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is now short one fight. With that in mind, women’s strawweight Jessica Aguilar has come forward with some details as to the reason behind the last minute fight cancellation.
UFC Fight Night 130 is set to take place in a matter of minutes from inside the Adirondack Bank Center in Utica, New York. Headlining the night’s card, bantamweights Jimmie Rivera and Marlon Moraes are set to battle it out for division supremacy.
While the headliner is still set to take place, two of the night’s other competitors were not so lucky.
Women’s strawweights Jessica Aguilar and Jodie Esquibel were originally set to fight during the UFC Fight Pass prelims on the night’s event. However, it has since been reported that the fight has been cancelled.
Aguilar was reportedly deemed medically unfit to compete by the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC). As reported by MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani over social media, Aguilar has since come forward with a few words on the matter.
Explaining that she was deemed medically unfit to compete by the NYSAC due to “chapped lips,” Aguilar told Ariel Helwani “NY commission is horrible and don’t understand everything we go through to make it here. It’s absolutely crazy and heartbreaking.”
