UFC middleweight contender Yoel Romero and reigning champion Robert Whittaker were initially set to face off in a highly anticipated title fight rematch. However, Romero has since missed weight for the event. Consequently, Whittaker has come forward with a brief statement.
UFC 225 is set to go down this Saturday, June 9, from within the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. Yoel Romero missed weight for his title fight main event match up by an entire pound.
Given a second chance to weigh-in, Romero ultimately hit 185.2 pounds. Still overweight, “The Soldier Of God” is no longer eligible to compete for the title.
Rather, Romero and Whittaker are now set to compete in a non-title fight for the night’s main event. Taking to Instagram, Whittaker had the following to say on the matter.
“I’m came here to fight ?? #ufc225 @ufc”
