Mixed martial arts veteran Michael Bisping has called an end to his illustrious career within the sport. Now heated rival Yoel Romero has come forward to offer a few words concerning Bisping’s retirement.
Michael Bisping first drew the ire of Romero when “The Count” was cage side for Romero’s interim title fight against Robert Whittaker. Bisping could be seen tearing up a flag of Romero’s native Cuba for all to see, as Romero suffered a tough loss to his opponent.
Since then, Bisping and Romero have not been on the best of terms. Well the former UFC middleweight champion called an end to his career earlier this week, having put on a storied career within the sport of MMA.
Yoel Romero usually dishes out the phrase “see you soon boi” to whichever fighter the tough contender puts in his sights. Now however, the mixed martial artist has decided to take a different route.
Speaking at the UFC 225 media conference call, Yoel Romero was asked to give a statement concerning Bisping’s retirement. Speaking through a translator, the fighter stated “I pray for him, and his family. [I hope] that he has a great life out of the fighting industry, and a prosperous life.”
Yoel Romero is now set to face off against Robert Whittaker for the undisputed title in a highly anticipated rematch at UFC 225 on June 9. The event will be featured live on pay-per-view.
