Former UFC heavyweight Cody East was arrested in Dec. of 2017 on criminal charges. Now details concerning the incident have emerged.
East was arrested on Dec. 18, 2017 on felony charges of aggravated battery against a household member (great bodily harm), aggravated assault against a household member, and false imprisonment. The fighter has since made his $30,000 bail.
Bernalillo County (N.M.) Sheriff deputies were informed by East’s girlfriend that she locked the former UFC fighter out of their home after the couple had been arguing all day. The individual had reportedly become concerned that East would hit her.
East broke into the house, according to the alleged victim, and cornered her in the bathroom before kicking her multiple times, kneeing her in the head and slapping her.
East than alleged grabbed the woman by the hair and threatened to murder her son if she did not leave the house with him.
Speaking to MMA Fighting, Bernalillo County District Attorney spokesperson Philip Sisneros explained that the case is “open and currently under review.” Sisneros then stated that a decision will be made “soon in terms of proceeding with prosecution.”
