Featherweight Yair Rodriguez was reportedly released from his UFC contract after the fighter allegedly turned down a match up against Zabit Magomedsharipov. However, it would now appear that the fighter may be back on the UFC roster and set to fight Magomedsharipov after all.
Yair Rodriguez was initially being targeted for a match up against Zabit Magomedsharipov for Aug. 4. However, Rodriguez later took to social media to claim the bout’s confirmation was “#FakeNews.”

After UFC President Dana White claimed that the fighter could take his talent to another promotion, the promotion’s head went to Twitter to state “Real News.”

Now ESPN’s Brett Okamoto has taken to social media to report that Yair Rodriguez has verbally agreed to fight Zabit Magomedsharipov at UFC 228. UFC 228 is being targeted for a September date and will be available live on pay-per-view.
