Yoel Romero Officially Disputes Judges Decision In Whittaker II Main Event

Yoel Romero is coming off of a tough decision loss from over the weekend. Now the mixed martial artist has come forward with a few words on the matter.

The highly anticipated fight card of UFC 225 took place on Saturday, June 9, from within the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. Headlining the night’s event, Yoel Romero went toe-to-toe with reigning UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker for a non-title fight rematch.

Romero missed weight for the fight, forcing the headliner to be a non-title fight. While Romero entered the octagon to avenge his unanimous decision loss to Whittaker, the reigning champion earned a split decision victory in their rematch over the weekend.

Speaking in an Instagram video from a nearby hospital after the fight, Yoel Romero revealed that he believes he won the fight.

“Tonight, I don’t feel that I lost,” Romero said. “I am the champ. It’s like the movie, like Rocky Marciano. Today, I am black Rocky, the people’s champ.”
