UFC middleweight contender Yoel Romero has been battling more than his opponents as of late. The fighter has been struggling to make weight.
Now, however, it would appear that the “Soldier of God” is planning on moving up to the light heavyweight division.
Yoel Romero has missed weight as a middleweight multiple times now. Most recently, Romero was set to face off against reigning UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker in a title fight rematch at UFC 225.
However, Romero missed weight for the match. Consequently, the two mixed martial artists still fought, but the match was no longer a title fight. In the end, Romero would still go on to lose his second fight to Whittaker.
Malki Kawa, manager to Yoel Romero, revealed on ESPN’s Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show that the “Soldier of God” is now moving up in weight to the light heavyweight division.
