Former UFC light heavyweight champion Volkan Oezdemir is facing a felony charge of battery with great bodily harm. Now the fighter’s court date has been moved.
Last summer, Oezdemir allegedly knocked out a fellow bar patron outside of a bar in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Oezdemir’s attorney Bruce Zimet has informed MMA Fighting that the trial has been moved back at July 9. Initially set for May, the trial was pushed back to June 18 before being pushed even further to the July 9 date.
Meanwhile, Volkan Oezdemir has been locked in to fight fellow former title contender Alexander Gustafsson on the highly anticipated fight card for UFC 227. The event will take place Aug. 4 and will be available live on pay-per-view.
