Conor McGregor Reveals He Is “very close” To His Massive Octagon Return

UFC megastar Conor McGregor has not competed inside the octagon since back 2016. That being said, the former two-division UFC champion recently landed a plea deal concerning the fracas that took place in Brooklyn, New York on April 5.

With “Notorious” not looking at any jail time or a criminal record over the matter, the Ireland native is now free to return to his profession. Speaking to TMZ Sports, McGregor has now come forward with an update on his fighting future.

When asked where he will fight next, McGregor said “We’ll see what happens,. I’d love to fight in the Garden again. But I believe this one is Las Vegas.”

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will be in Las Vegas, Nev. for UFC 229 on Oct. 6 and for UFC 232 on Dec. 29. So, it would appear that the former two-division title holder has two dates in mind for his octagon return.

McGregor did not offer an update as to who he will be fighting, though a match up against reigning UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov seems like a fan favorite choice. McGregor then revealed that he is “pushing for” an octagon return by the end of 2018 and that he is “very close” to striking a deal for his next fight.
