UFC women’s flyweight Paige VanZant’s fiance Austin Vanderford took a shot at a UFC contract on Tuesday. However, the fighter was not able to get a spot on the roster of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
The world’s most famous mixed martial arts promotion was in Las Vegas, Nev. on Tuesday, July 17, in order to host week five of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series. Featured on the night’s card, Austin Vanderford faced off against Angelo Trevino in a battle for a UFC contract.
Vanderford ultimately earned a round two submission over his opponent. However, Dana White revealed at the end of the episode that Edmen Shahbazyan, Maycee Barber and Domingo Pilarte will all be receiving UFC contracts. Despite his victory, Vanderford will not be added to the UFC roster.
