Newly crowned two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier has received a series of fighter call outs ever since earning the heavyweight title. Now UFC light heavyweight contender Ilir Latifi has decided to add his name to the list.
Daniel Cormier moved up in weight to fight UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic for his title in the main event of UFC 226. After knockout out Miocic within the first round, Cormier became the second fighter within the UFC to simultaneously hold multiple division titles. Conor McGregor would go on to give himself the moniker “champ champ” after accomplishing the goal earlier in his career.
Former UFC light heavyweight title challenger Alexander Gustafsson has been targeting a fight against D.C. for some time now. Beyond that, UFC middleweight contender Yoel Romero has revealed that he plans on moving up to the light heavyweight division and has since called out Cormier.
Taking to Instagram, Ilir Latifi has now decided to follow the trend. Check it out below:
“@dc_mma Mister Pound for Pound! Lets give the fans the best possible show at LHW! Shogun is a legend, and a great fighter, but I’m the only one at the top of LHW that has 5 wins out of my last 6 with 3 KO’s and 1 submission in the first round!
I’m one of the most active fighters in the division! Let us both heal and set it up!”
“You said it yourself: “Ilir Latifi is the strongest guy I’ve ever trained with.” And with my 100% takedown defense, we all know this will be a slug fest! You never know, I might just take you down once for the fun of it.”
“Let’s rumble in NYC! LET’S MAKE IT HAPPEN!
