Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos suffered a first round knockout loss to fellow former title holder Stipe Miocic in his most recent match up. Now it would appear that dos Santos would like to run it back with the native.
Dos Santos and Miocic first faced of back at UFC on FOX 13. There, dos Santos earned a unanimous decision victory over his opponent. However, Miocic knocked out dos Santos within the first round of their UFC 211 rematch.
With Stipe Miocic now coming off of a title ending first round knockout loss to Daniel Cormier, Junior dos Santos is looking to lock down a rematch against his former opponent. Speaking to MMA Junkie, dos Anjos revealed the matter.
“When you become the champion, you become a target. Now, the new target for the heavyweight division is Daniel Cormier. Everybody, of course, wants to fight him, including me. And eventually, at some point, it’s going to happen. But the division is living a good moment. I want to do this third fight with Miocic, too.”
“That could be a good fight for one of these shows. There are many good fights. The heavyweight division is living a good moment and we can give the fans a lot of excitement.”
“I love this sport. I love who I am. To be here, to be Junior dos Santos, for me – I can’t see myself doing anything else right now. I’m 34 years old, young.”
