Khabib’s Camp Gives Update On Conor Negotiations, Offers Target Date

UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is currently awaiting his first title challenger. With that in mind, it would appear that the Dagestan native may have a fight date in sight for a highly anticipated match up against former champion Conor McGregor.

Nurmagomedov vs. McGregor has quickly become one of fight fans’ most highly anticipated potential match ups. McGregor allegedly escorted a large entourage of individuals backstage of the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on April 5 in order to attack a UFC bus.

Nurmagomedov was allegedly the target, as the fighter had an altercation with McGregor’s teammate Artem Lobov days earlier. Ever since then, fight fans have been largely hopeful for a fight between the two competitors.

Conor McGregor is currently awaiting his court date of July 26, as “Notorious” is facing criminal charges for the incident. Beyond that, Khabib Nurmagomedov has other potential opponents, such as longtime rival Tony Ferguson or formerly mentioned fight interest for “The Eagle” Georges St-Pierre.

In a recent interview, as seen below, Nurmagomedov’s father and coach revealed that a fight against Conor McGregor is being targeted for Oct. 6.

As translated, the statement reads: “I think is scheduled for October 6. It is undesirable to say about this now but negotiations are nearing completion. This is Conor”.
