Boxing great Oscar De La Hoya is the founder of Golden Boy Promotions. While the former champion boxer has a history promoting his fellow pugilist, De La Hoya has now decided to venture within the world of mixed martial arts.
Former UFC light heavyweight champions Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell are reportedly in negotiations with newly formed Golden Boy MMA for a trilogy rematch. Speaking to Fight Hub TV, De La Hoya revealed that he is seemingly looking to lock down any MMA fighters that are disgruntled with their current promotions.
“I’m really looking forward to getting involved with MMA and building a new business. If any fighter who is an MMA fighter wants to explore a different avenue, come knock on our door, give us a call. I’m really excited about starting Golden Boy MMA. When we do things, we do them right, just like we’ve done with boxing.”
