Interim UFC welterweight champion Colby Covington has been sparking controversy throughout his mixed martial arts career. That being said, the title holder believes Tyron Woodley and Jon Jones may turn fight fans in his favor.
Colby Covington first drew controversy when he called Brazil a “dump” and the UFC Sao Paulo crowd “filthy animals” in his post-fight interview back in 2017. Ever since then, Covington has done everything from spoil top blockbuster movies through his social media to trash-talk any fighter willing to verbally spar with him.
Now Covington is on a collision course with reigning UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley. As seen within the video above, Woodley has revealed his heated thoughts on the possible match up.
Woodley even stated that former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, former roommate to Colby Covington, is willing to help him prepare for the fight. Speaking on Submission Radio, Colby Covington has now come forward with his thoughts on the matter.
“I think that those guys are such dirt bags and such fake people that people hate Jon Jones and Tyron Woodley so much that it’s gonna make me a babyface. And I’m a dickhead. I’m a bad person. I don’t give a fuck about people’s feelings. That’s my point. I’m trying to get everybody’s feelings hurt.”
“They’re just gonna make me the babyface, they’re just gonna make me the good guy. And I’m not trying to be the good guy — I’m trying to be the dickhead. I don’t care about people’s feelings and I’m triggering people worldwide.
“So Jon Jones and Tyron Woodley are making a big mistake. And the funny this is they’re both managed by the same scumbag, the Kawa brothers. Malki Kawa, he doesn’t know what he’s doing, he doesn’t know how to do business.”
