Former UFC heavyweight title challenger Francis Ngannou and fellow tough division contender Derrick Lewis faced off inside the octagon over the weekend. Following the controversial and largely uneventful match up, striking statistics for the 15 minute bout have now been revealed.
Lewis and Ngannou faced off for the co-main event of UFC 226 on Saturday, July 7, live on pay-per-view. The fight was largely expected to be a barn burner, but neither fighter were seemingly interested in trading on the feet.
The fight ultimately went the distance, with little to no significant damage having been dealt on either end. The fight was met with angry boos from the arena crowd and heated criticism from fight fans at home.
Now MMA’s Michael Carroll has come forward with the total striking statistics for the fight. Ngannou vs. Lewis ultimately hit the second least strikes ever thrown within a three round fight.
