Former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell have each made the decision to come out of retirement. With the two mixed martial arts veterans now set to compete in a trilogy rematch, “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” has come forward with an interesting statement concerning the match up.
Liddell and Ortiz have signed with Golden Boy Promotion, Oscar De La Hoya’s premiere boxing promotion, for an MMA rematch. Liddell has finished Ortiz on two different occasions, but has also been out of the professional fight game for over eight years now.
Speaking to MMA Fighting, Tito Ortiz revealed that he will not be receiving any base fighter pay or show money for the match up. Rather the fighter will be seeing an undisclosed portion of the event’s various profits.
“People have to understand this. This fight? I’m not getting paid no money. There is no $1 million payday guaranteed. I make money when someone buys a pay-per-view. I make money when someone buys a ticket to the fight.”
