UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway is currently undergoing a series of medical tests at the expense of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). That being said, former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping has now come forward to claim that the featherweight title holder is suffering a concussion after being knocked out in training.
Max Holloway was initially set to defend his title from rising, undefeated challenger Brian Ortega in the highly anticipated co-main event of UFC 226 on Saturday, July 7. However, Holloway never made it to the live pay-per-view event.
“Blessed” was pulled from the title fight after suffering concussion-like symptoms. As the UFC medical team was unable to identify precisely what was wrong with Holloway, UFC President Dana White has come forward to reveal that the promotion is running the champion through a battery of medical tests.
Speaking on his podcast Believe You Me, Michael Bisping has now come forward with a few words on the matter.
“Apparently he had a concussion in training camp.” Bisping said. “Word on the street is, I’m hearing, is that he got knocked out in training camp and suffered a concussion. But, he was still going to fight. Obviously that could have been very, very damaging for him. God knows what kind of damage he would have taken to his brain.”
