Former UFC light heavyweight title contender Volkan Oezdemir has been removed from his scheduled match up against Alexander Gustafsson following an injury. Now Oezdemir has come forward with a statement concerning the matter.
Oezdemir and Gustafsson were initially set to throw down on the highly anticipated live pay-per-view fight card of UFC 227. The event will take place Aug. 4 from within the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif.
Oezdemir has, however, suffered an injury. Consequently, the fighter has been pulled from his match up.
Taking to Instagram, Oezdemir has since offered a statement. Check it out below:
“I got injured and I’m not able to fight at #UFC227 damn it! I’m really sorry for all my fans, the @ufc and my opponent @alexthemauler . This event is going to be amazing anyway. I’ll be back at 100% very soon!! #NoTime”
