Undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is now set to take on UFC megastar Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 229. With the fight now drawing closer, a trio of UFC fighters have come forward with their predictions for the match up.
Speaking to TMZ Sports, former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum revealed that he believes Khabib Nurmagomedov will “kill” Conor McGregor.
“I think Khabib [will beat McGregor]. Khabib will kill Conor McGregor, for sure. I saw Khabib. He trains a lot and he’s a very tough guy.”
Speaking on an previous edition of The MMA Hour, UFC lightweight contender Dustin Poirier revealed that he is also leaning towards “The Eagle.”
“I’m kind of leaning toward Khabib. I’m thinking he’s going to get the victory.”
Speaking at a recent press-conference, former two-division UFC champion Georges St-Pierre revealed he is largely in favor of the Dagestan native.
“If I had to put my house on it, I would have to say Khabib. [He has] never lost. Conor has lost before and lost on the ground. That’s where Khabib is the most competent.”
UFC 229 will take place Oct. 6, live on pay-per-view.
