Colby Covington began a social media campaign ahead of his interim UFC welterweight title fight against Rafael dos Anjos in which the fighter revealed that he wanted to take the interim belt to the Oval office. Well, Covington achieved his goal.
Covington went on to defeat Rafael dos Anjos by decision for the interim title. The newly crowned interim champion would later go to Instagram to show off his experience handing the interim title to Pres. Donald Trump from within the White House.
“Like @realdonaldtrump always says: Promises made. Promises kept. Pleasure to finally meet you Mr. President. Thank you for always putting America first! #maga #GreatAmericanWinningMachine ??”
Speaking on ESPN’s Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show, Colby Covington has since come forward with some interesting details from the experience.
“It was the best day of my life. I can’t lie.”
“He’s actually a lot bigger in person than you would really think. He kind of towered over me. I was a little bit nervous. I thought he was going to get me or something.
“He put the collar tie on me for a little bit though. I was like, “damn, Mr. President, you’re strong.”
