UFC megastar Conor McGregor journeyed into the world of professional boxing on Aug. 26, 2017. Having now reached the anniversary of the massive match, “Notorious” has now come forward with a few words.
The former two-division UFC champion stepped inside the squared circle for the first time as a pro boxer against undefeated pugilist legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. The two squared off from within the illustrious T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.
McGregor made it to the tenth round, before “Money” Mayweather earned a TKO victory over the Ireland native. Still, both competitors reportedly earned massive paydays for the pay-per-view bout.
Taking to Instagram, Conor McGregor has now decided to share a few words on the anniversary of his tough loss in his boxing debut. Check it out below.
“1 year ago today I adhered to a load of rules, for a load of riches.
Not today though. Today was no rules. Just a fight. A Proper one.
For nothing more than peace, and peace of mind.”
Conor McGregor is now set to challenge undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov for his title in the main event of UFC 229. The fight will take place Oct. 6, live on pay-per-view.
