UFC superstar Nate Diaz is back. The Stockton native is currently set to face tough UFC lightweight contender Dustin Poirier in the co-main event of UFC 230. However, things have not entirely gone smoothly as of late.
Diaz and Poirier each appeared at the recent UFC 25th Anniversary Press Conference to promote the fight. However, Diaz walked out of the presser as the UFC surprisingly announced that Conor McGregor is now set to face UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in the main event of UFC 229.
Diaz would go on to hold a pseudo-presser of his own just outside of the center. The fighter then voiced his displeasure concerning the UFC’s treatment of him. Diaz then stated that he will fight Poirier, “if I feel like it.”
Speaking at the recent UFC 227 post-fight press conference, UFC President Dana White was asked about the situation.
“You tell me if everything’s okay with Nate Diaz.” White said. “If you can decipher that code, call me tomorrow and let me know.”
When asked if he has been in communicated with Diaz since the event or if he plans to contact Diaz, White added “What are we going to talk about?”
The UFC president then confirmed that he has no plans to contact the Stockton native, despite Nate Diaz’s seeming displeasure with the situation.
