Daniel Cormier Gets Honest About Dropping Back Down To Defend Belt

UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier shocked the world when he earned the heavyweight title with a first round knockout victory over Stipe Miocic back at UFC 226. The reigning two-division champion has now decided to offer a few words concerning the difficulties of returning to the light heavyweight division.

Daniel Cormier called out former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar directly after his big knockout victory at UFC 226. While Lesnar accepted the call out, the former title holder still has another six months of his suspension to serve following a failed drug test at UFC 200.

In the meantime, Daniel Cormier has revealed an interest in defending his light heavyweight title once more. Speaking on Live with Kelly and Ryan, D.C. has now come forward to discuss the difficulties of returning to the 205 pound division.

“For me to go back down is going to be difficult to defend this belt but I plan on doing it.”

“Honestly, I am a heavyweight. I weigh 245 pounds normally but then I cut down to 205 whenever I fight at 205. So I lose 40 pounds to fight in that weight class.”
