Weight cutting is an unfortunate part of modern mixed martial arts. Those wishing to compete in the highest levels of the sport will often have to cut massive amounts of weight in order to compete in a weight class that they feel fully capable in.
That being said, weight cutting proposes some serious risks. Dehydration is often achieved in order to lose the last pounds in order to make weight, increasing one’s chances of a bevy of nasty medical conditions.
