Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez is seemingly the next in a line of UFC superstars to now be ready to make his big octagon return.
Former UFC heavyweight title holder Brock Lesnar was the first to enter the fold once again, as two-division champion Daniel Cormier called out the WWE star back at UFC 226. Since then, Lesnar has re-entered the USADA testing pool.
Stockton native Nate Diaz has since made his big return to the UFC. The fighter is now set to face off against Dustin Poirier in the co-main event of UFC 230. On the heels of Nate Diaz’s big return, former two-division champion Conor McGregor has had his octagon return officially announced.
“Notorious” is now set to face off against undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in the main event of UFC 229. With all of that in mind, American Kickboxing Academy head coach Javier Mendez has now come forward with some big news concerning AKA member Cain Velasquez.
Cain Velasquez has not competed inside the octagon since earning a first round TKO victory over Travis Browne back in 2016. That being said, speaking on ESPN’s Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show, Javier Mendez has now come forward to say that Cain Velasquez is now “definitely ready to fight” following a string of injuries that have kept the former champion sidelined for so long.
