Former UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson reached the end of his record breaking title reign back at UFC 227. Following the tough split decision loss to Henry Cejudo, UFC bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw and Henry Cejudo have begun showing interest in a super fight. Now “Mighty Mouse” has come forward with his thoughts on the matter.
Henry Cejudo earned a decision win for the UFC flyweight title in the co-main event of UFC 227. In his post-fight interview, Cejudo stated that he wants to fight whichever competitor wins in the night’s headliner.
T.J. Dillashaw successfully defended his bantamweight title in the main event, followed up by an acceptance of Cejudo’s callout in his post-fight interview. Of course, Demetrious Johnson and T.J. Dillashaw were in negotiations for a super fight before UFC 227.
However, the negotiations ultimately fell flat. Speaking on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show, Demetrious Johnson has now come forward with his thoughts on Dillashaw fighting Cejudo instead.
“I think it’s good for them. If that’s what they want to do, let them do it, you know? I think I read somewhere TJ said when he was weight-cutting he hit 133, so if he wants to do it, have him do it. I don’t think there’s nothing wrong with it at all. Let them do what they wanna do, dawg. That’s them.”
“I’m not worried about because I know I’m gonna be successful wherever I’m at. Whether it’s me not getting a fair shake…at the end of the day, that’s something my management is gonna have to deal with because I don’t talk to the UFC brass because I can’t hold back my emotions, and I keep it real.”
