Nate Diaz Blames Lengthy Absence On Lawsuit, Breaks It Down For First Time

UFC superstar Nate Diaz has not competed inside the octagon since going on a two fight rivalry with Ireland native Conor McGregor. However, Diaz is now set to fight Dustin Poirier at UFC 230 on Nov. 3.

Speaking at the UFC 25th Anniversary Press Conference on Friday, Aug. 3, the Stockton native revealed that he has not fought since 2016 because of a legal dispute.

“Since my last fight, I’ve been in a lawsuit, so I wasn’t eligible to fight.” Diaz said. “I don’t know why nobody told you guys that.”

The Ballengee Group filed litigation against Nate Diaz claiming that the management group was never paid by Diaz for their alleged part in the negotiation of Diaz’s fight against Connor McGregor for UFC 202.
