The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is the world’s toughest proving ground for combat athletes.
A world class boxer can get clowned easily inside the cage, just like any other man coming in with a single discipline looking for a prize fight.
It’s the pinnacle of all combat, and despite the respect that UFC president Dana White may have for the one armed phenom Nick Newell, he’s unable to sign off on allowing him to fight in the UFC.
The UFC boss explained during a Tuesday night media scrum, stating, “I respect that kid very much. Obviously that’s why I gave him an opportunity. I just always believed that the UFC was a tough place for Nick. This is a tough place with two arms and two legs. This is the real deal.
“I put him in the Contender Series to see if he could make it to the UFC. He didn’t make it.”
Despite not making the cut, Nick Newell plans to continue his fighting career in other organizations.
