Poirier Is Sold On Nate Diaz’s Star Power, And That’s Why He Took This Fight

UFC superstar Dustin Poirier earned a stunning TKO victory over Eddie Alvarez in their big rematch. While Poirier claimed he needed a shot at the UFC lightweight title following the victory, the tough division contender is now set to face off against UFC superstar Nate Diaz.

Nate Diaz is making his big octagon return after being away from the UFC for two years. The Stockton native is set to face off against Dustin Poirier in the co-main event of UFC 230 on Nov. 3 from within Madison Square Garden in New York, live on pay-per-view.

Speaking to ESPN, Dustin Poirier has come forward with his thoughts on fighting Nate Diaz after Conor McGregor was granted a title shot against lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

“This is the biggest fight that could have came together for me, besides a title fight. Obviously, Khabib and Conor are going to fight in October. I just feel like I’m not going to wait ten months for a title shot.

“I don’t want to sit on the shelf that long.”

“The fact that it’s Nate Diaz makes it an easy yes. He’s probably the second biggest name in mixed martial arts at the moment, that I could have wanted.”
