Miesha Tate is a mixed martial arts superstar. That being said, the talented fighter has continued to grow a massive and dedicated fanbase well after the end of her MMA career. Now the MMA community is celebrating the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion’s recent birthday.
Miesha Tate began her mixed martial arts career with a victory in her first pro MMA fight following success in the amateur circuit. Tate would eventually make her way to the Strikeforce promotion, where the fighter quickly became the Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champion.
Under the Strikeforce banner, Tate began her long standing and heated rivalry with soon to be UFC megastar Ronda Rousey. Rousey ultimately earned a submission finish over her opponent in their first match up for the Strikeforce belt.
Miesha Tate rebounded with a submission finish of her own over Julie Kedzie in her final Strikeforce bout before moving up to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Within the UFC, Miesha Tate once again saw great success.
The fighter had yet another back and forth battle with Ronda Rousey, ultimately ending in a submission victory for Rousey. Still, Tate moved on to fight for and earn the UFC women’s bantamweight title with a submission victory over Holly Holm.
Following a two fight losing streak after her title earning victory, Miesha Tate retired from the sport of MMA in 2016. Tate now finds other ways to spend her time.
The former UFC title holder recently experienced the birth of her first child, a baby daughter. Now 31-years-old, Miesha Tate celebrated her birthday on Aug. 18.
