UFC welterweight Colby Covington has become a controversial figure within the world of mixed martial arts. Ever since the fighter referred to Brazil as a “dump” and the arena crowd as “filthy animals” back at UFC Sao Paulo in 2017, the fighter has polarized fans worldwide.
Speaking on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show, CM Punk recently offered some critical words concerning the fighter.
“It’s racist. Anything to do with racism is bulls—. I get what Colby is doing but I don’t appreciate it. I just ignore it.”
Speaking with journalist James Lynch, Colby Covington has since come forward with a response.
“This is also coming from a guy that stole all his wrestling moves from Kenta. He’s a fake motherf**ker, so you can’t believe anything that comes out of his mouth. I didn’t hear those remarks because I don’t pay attention to someone that’s irrelevant to MMA.
“I mean, the guy’s a complete joke. Don’t use my name and try and get some notoriety and clout in the MMA world because you’re a joke, man. You’re 0-2 in the UFC against two bums they had to bring in. So, CM Punk should stick to his little bullsh*t and leave the prime time to me.”
