Some of the toughest and most talented fighters within the sport of mixed martial arts have graced the roster of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) at one point or another. However, four UFC veterans of the sport have retired from fighting within the past two weeks alone.
UFC vetas Evan Dunham and Thales Leites each made their final octagon appearances back at UFC Fight Night 137 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. After the event, both fighters announced their retirements from the sport of MMA.
Just days later, UFC vet Mark Godbeer announced his retirement over social media.
“I’d like to thank you all for making the last ten years of my life an epic journey,, but now it’s time to give my time and nrg into those around me that deserve it the most starting with my girls… I have achieved everything I set out to do and more.. now it’s time to give a little back to those that gave me so much whilst supporting me… my time in the 4oz mitts are done. The screeding rails are being dusted off On to the next journey of my life. Much love THE HAND”

Now former UFC fighter turned Bellator competitor Michael McDonald has taken to social media to announce his retirement.
“My friends and family, I am excited to announce the start of a new chapter for me and my wife Rachel.
“Today I am officially retiring from MMA fighting and I plan on never competing in martial arts competitions again. I had a wonderful career and a wonderful staff, and even greater- a wonderful wife and a wonderful God to thank for all the great moments.
“I am now going to be doing my woodworking full time from here on for many many years to come. I have been a professional cabinet and furniture maker for 7 years now along side my fighting. I have my own custom cabinetry and furniture shop and i am just as passionate about woodworking as i am about martial Arts. I put the same hard work and striving for perfection into my woodworking craft as you have all seen in my fighting career.”
