UFC megastar Conor McGregor just locked in an eight-fight contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). The former two-division champion’s new “Proper 12” Irish whiskey brand is an official sponsor of the UFC. Beyond that, “Notorious” is now perhaps set to make the largest profit from a UFC fight in the promotion’s history.
Conor McGregor is currently set to fight undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in the main event of UFC 229’s live pay-per-view on Oct. 6. UFC President Dana White has since claimed that the event is trending at 2.5 million PPV purchases, which would make for nearly 1 million more purchases than the largest PPV in UFC history.
Speaking to media after the recent UFC 229 press conference in New York, Dana White answered a question concerning if Conor McGregor will likely be the highest paid fighter in UFC history thanks to UFC 229.
“Yeah, absolutely.” White responded. “I think it’s going to be the biggest pay-per-view we’ve ever done.”
