Heavyweight Champ Anthony Joshua Does It Again, Finishes Povetkin In Seventh

Heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is stepping inside the squared circle again tonight for another highly anticipated match up. With the event now going down, the time has come to take a look at the results.

Anthony Joshua is set to put his WBA (super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles on the line in a match up against Alexander Povetkin. The two talented pugilists are battling it out from within the Wembley Stadium in London, England.

The first round opened up at a methodical pace. Each boxer took their time, gauging their opponent’s range and power. However, Povetkin opened up with a swift rampage of blows in the closing moments of the round.

Joshua mostly kept his opponent at bay for the second round, but still seemed to receive more damage than Povetkin by the sound of the bell. This was another good round for Povetkin.

The third round is going to be a tough one for the judges. Joshua opened up a cut just above the left eye of Povetkin with some power shots, but Povetkin continued to fire off some bombs of his own.

Povetkin’s cut worsened in the fourth round, but did not appear to impede the boxer’s vision. Povetkin continued to pressure Joshua with some power shots, but Joshua began to retaliate with stunning left hooks.

Round five was an intense one. Joshua went on the offensive as he began taking to Povetkin. However, Povetkin stood his ground and pummeled his opponent with some solid strikes.

In round six, Joshua really let his hands go. Smashing Povetkin with some serious shots, the champion put on a dominant three minutes in front of the judges.

In the seventh round, Anthony Joshua put an end to his opponent with a stunning TKO performance.
